Adrian Homersham

Autumn Leaves

Adrian starts his demonstration by showing us some examples of his work that incorporate leaves.  He then talked about the brushes he uses, the paper and the paint, giving very clear reasons why he uses this equipment and medium.    He prefers a white watercolour paper and white mixing palette so he can see the true colour of what he mixes. Next he outlines the method he is going to employ and why.

1. Paper taped all round and leaf traced on

 3. Adding Red & Sienna - let it develop

Adrian uses a Holly twig to scrape lines across leaf to let the wet paint flow into.

2. Gamboge Yellow Wash - work flat

Uses Ultramarine to make green and a near black

The finished leaf that took around

15 minutes to complete . Adrian has allowed the medium to do most of the work and the result is stunning!
