Bramhall Art Society, was at that time, run by Brenda Lees and Nora Green, who (until it became too expensive), employed a teacher to come and instruct their members. They would often invite artists from outside their own membership to exhibit with them as well, and there was a positive cross-over of artists as many members from Bramhall Art Society were tutored by Peter Shaw at Stockport College and several non-members (such as Eileen) from his classes exhibited at the Bramhall Art Society's Annual Exhibition. (See the 'About Us' - historical section for further information about BAS during those years)

Meanwhile, The Peter Shaw Group continued and grew for over 9 years until the Brownie Hut burnt down due to vandals and some careless builders. Unable to find an alternative venue suitable to their needs, the group sadly ended. It was at this time that Eileen was asked to join BAS. It was a very happy decision, she says that 'it was and still is, a group of friendly, caring, like minded artists'.

A little Eileen anecdote:-
Princess Alexandra, a Patron of the Arts, was invited by Stockport Council to open a New Technical Building on Wellington Road. Derek Wilkinson, Head of the Art Department, invited Eileen as a Peter Shaw non-vocational artist to display her life paintings with the rest of the display in his department. The council representatives insisted the nudes may offend and should be withdrawn, but Derek and the other tutors stood firm on the content of the exhibition as it was a proper representation of non-vocational studies. Eileen's work remained on display. With the content of the Royal Art Collection in mind, it was doubted whether Princess Alexandra 'would have turned a hair'!
